FLAG-ERA plans to launch its next Joint Transnational Call (JTC 2017) in early January 2017. The call has been designed in collaboration with the FET Flagships Graphene and Human Brain Project and aims to add a second wave of transnational partnering projects to support and extend their work.
The purpose of the pre-announcement is to enable interested parties to start building their consortia and preparing their proposals. The call topics, the foreseen list of participating funding organisations and a tentative timeline are provided below and and further information is provided in the call pre-announcement. In order to facilitate contacts with the relevant parts of the Flagships, a correspondence table and contact information are provided for the Graphene and the HBP topics. A pre-proposal form is also provided to encourage early preparation. Note that submissions will have to include information on the potential synergies with the Flagship using a separate template derived from the Flagship Partnering Project application form, which will be published later on.

Call topics
The FLAG-ERA JTC 2017 comprises two topics, one for each Flagship. The Graphene part of the call is sub-divided into two sub-calls, one for basic research and one for applied research and innovation. The sub-calls covers a specific list of research areas listed below.
Graphene (Basic research)
1. Synthesis and characterization of Layered Materials (LMs) beyond graphene
2. Large scale production of heterostructures based on LMs
3. Vertical and lateral epitaxy of Graphene and Related Materials (GRMs) for optoelectronics

Tentative Timeline
The FLAG-ERA JTC 2017 has been designed with a two-step submission procedure: Applicants first need to submit a short pre-proposal. Applicants who are selected in this first step are invited to submit full proposals. A tentative timeline is provided below.
